Macquarie Psychology is a private psychology practice offering a range of psychological services to individuals and organisations including therapy and neuropsychological assessments in Hobart.

We have experience working with a wide range of psychological and emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, addictions, phobias and disorders (eg. OCD and Personality Disorders).

We are committed to providing affordable yet highly professional psychological services to all those in our community and are registered with Medicare Australia, DVA and Private Health Funds. We also provide services for organisations such as ADF, Victims of Crime, Comcare and MAIB.

Bruno Cayoun DPsych(Clin)

Dr Bruno Cayoun is a registered clinical psychologist and has been in private practice since 2003. Bruno is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA). His treatment with clients is grounded, compassionate and effective. Bruno is passionate about his work and has a particular interest in mindfulness and wellbeing. He is experienced in working with a wide range of psychological and emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, pain management, trauma and phobias. Bruno works with older teens and adults (17 years +).

Bruno is also a researcher and principal developer of Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT), which he has been teaching to mental health professionals internationally since 2003. He undertakes mindfulness research at the MiCBT Institute, and co-supervises several studies at Monash University, Sydney University, University of Technology Sydney, and Massey University. He is the author of three books, including Mindfulness-integrated CBT: Principles and Practice (Wiley, 2011), and Mindfulness-integrated CBT for Well-being and Personal Growth (Wiley, 2015) and co-author of The Clinical Handbook of Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behavior Therapy: A Step-by-Step Guide for Therapists (Wiley, 2018). His mindfulness training CDs and books are used worldwide and he is the principal developer of several questionnaires.

Dallas Hope PhD(Clin.Psychology)

Dr Dallas Hope has been working as a psychologist in both the public and private sectors since 2009. Dallas has experience working with adults on a range of psychological conditions, such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief and adjustment. He also has a particular interest in working with adults who have experienced trauma and abuse. Dallas is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and skills training.

Denise Kirby PhD(Psychology) PGDipClinPsych

Dr Denise Kirby is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a research background in Mindfulness. Denise brings a highly professional yet personal and empathic approach to meet her client’s therapy needs. Denise draws from both a scientific and a positive psychological background to help strengthen an individual’s personal wellbeing and resilience.

One of Denise’s specific areas of interest is the application and practice of personalised strengths-based interventions for treating a wide range of adult mental health conditions. Denise also has a particular interest in depression, anxiety and stress, as well as phobias and disorders such as OCD and personality disorders.

She employs Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT) practices, to create unique and individualised therapy to meet her client’s treatment goals. Denise works with adults (19 years+).

Jason Little PhD(Clin.Psychology)

Dr Jason Little is a clinical psychologist working with people to help them develop skills and techniques for their emotional health, resilience and wellbeing. He has a special interest in mindfulness and practices with compassion and commitment to assist people increase their self-confidence and sense of self-worth.

Jason’s therapy approach employs evidence-based treatments that are tailored to clients’ individual needs. He is committed to working collaboratively with his clients within a supportive environment that is genuine, compassionate and professional.

Working with adults and teenagers, Jason draws from evidence-based therapies of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT).

He has a special interest in building from the resources and strengths that his clients have to assist them in growing and leading more fulfilling lives. Jason works with clients across a wide range of psychological and emotional issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress, addictions and phobia.

Kristy Hill MPsych(Clin)

Kristy Hill is a passionate and effective therapist who has worked as a psychologist with the Education Department, Disability Services, Mental Health Services and private practice since 2004. Kristy is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Clinical Psychologists, as well as the Australian Clinical Psychology Association.

Kristy is experienced in providing interventions for all general mental health conditions (eg. depression, anxiety and stress), and she has a special interest in the treatment of eating disorders, personality disorders, trauma (including borderline personality disorder and self-harm), mood and emotion regulation disorders, and perinatal mental health. She develops personalised interventions, depending on the person’s treatment goals, using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Kristy works with children (12 years +), adolescents, adults and couples.

Renee Slym MPsych(Clin)

Renee is a Clinical Psychologist with interests in the areas of trauma and PTSD, acute stress, anxiety and depression, adolescent mental health, perinatal psychology, grief and loss, and substance use (including smoking cessation).

Prior to working in Private Practice, Renee has worked in a variety of settings including academia (Institute of Psychiatry, London), Clinical (St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney; Alcohol and Drug Services) and Educational (Guilford Young College Adolescent Psychologist, Hobart).

Renee practices a range of evidence based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She holds a strong interest in linking research with practice. She has published 3 peer reviewed papers in the area of adolescent mental health. Renee is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and AHPRA, and holds memberships with the APS and APS Clinical College. She is a registered supervisor of early career psychologists. Renee works with older teens and adults (17 years +).

Sigrid Denehey DPsych (Clin/Neuro)

Dr Sigrid Denehey is an experienced clinical neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist specialising in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions (for more information on the field of neuropsychology please see our FAQ page). Dr Denehey is a Fellow of the College of Clinical Neuropsychologists, a Member of the International Neuropsychological Society and a Member of the Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment. She is also a Consultant Neuropsychologist for the Red Health medicolegal assessment group.

Dr Denehey has worked in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for a number of years (i.e. the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals who have suffered traumatic brain injury, stroke, encephalitis/meningitis, brain tumours etc), as well as aged care services and memory clinics (i.e. the diagnosis of dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions).

As both a clinical neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist, Dr Denehey is well-placed to determine whether or not perceived cognitive and/or behavioural decline is due to underlying neuropathology, mood or both. Dr Denehey is happy to provide medico-legal assessments and opinions where required.

Dr Denehey works with adults (16 years +) and is currently only accepting referrals for neuropsychological assessment due to her part-time status.
