We can assist with some legal and court-related matters, but not all.
For many clients we can:
– Provide factual treatment summaries describing attendance, diagnoses, treatment provided, and progress.
– Respond to subpoenas or requests for records in line with legal and ethical obligations.
However, more complex forensic or medico-legal assessments and reports (for example, Family Court parenting assessments, criminal responsibility opinions, or high-stakes civil litigation) require a different process and may not fall within our scope.
If you are involved in legal proceedings or anticipate that your therapy may become part of a legal matter:
– Please inform your psychologist as early as possible.
– We can then clarify what we can and cannot provide, the fee structure for any court-related work, and whether a referral to a specialist forensic service would be more appropriate.
Court attendance and medico-legal work usually involve separate fees, which may include time for report writing, file review, and liaison with lawyers.
