FAQS

What should I do if I’m in crisis or need urgent help?

Macquarie Psychology is not an emergency service and we are unable to provide 24-hour crisis support. There may also be delays in responding to messages outside business hours.

If you are:
– In immediate danger,
– Feeling at serious risk of harming yourself or someone else, or
– Unable to keep yourself safe,
please do not wait for a therapy appointment.

Instead, take one or more of the following steps straight away:
– Call 000 and ask for an ambulance or police, or
– Go to your nearest hospital emergency department.

You can also contact a 24/7 crisis support service, such as:
– Lifeline – 13 11 14
– Suicide Call Back Service – 1300 659 467
– Beyond Blue – 1300 22 4636
– 1800 RESPECT – 1800 737 732 (for sexual assault, domestic or family violence).

If you are a current or ex-serving member of the ADF or a family member, you can also reach:
– Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling – 1800 011 046 (24/7).

Once you are safe and have received urgent support, we can work with you and your treating team on an ongoing plan for care and recovery.
