Ms Renee Slym

Areas of special interest: Renee is a clinical psychologist with interests in the areas of couples therapy, trauma and PTSD, acute stress, anxiety and depression, perinatal psychology, and substance use (including smoking cessation).

Clinical background: Prior to working in private practice, Renee worked in a variety of settings including academia (Institute of Psychiatry, London), Clinical (St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney; Alcohol and Drug Services) and Educational (Guilford Young College Adolescent Psychologist, Hobart).

Therapy approaches and qualifications: Renee practices a range of evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She holds a strong interest in linking research with practice. Renee obtained a First Class Honours and a Masters of Clinical Psychology at Macquarie University, Sydney. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and AHPRA and holds memberships with the APS and APS Clinical College. She is a registered supervisor of early-career psychologists.
