Telehealth
Our telehealth services are convenient, straightforward and similar to face-to-face therapy. If you are having problems accessing a therapist in-person, our supportive, caring and knowledgeable team of therapists can connect with you via a telehealth session.
Telehealth (consultation by video or phone) has been recommended by the Australian Government as a suitable medium to enable vital continuity of care for all clients requiring psychological assessment, treatment and / or support during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Macquarie Psychology is providing services through this initiative for new clients (video calls only) and existing clients (video and phone calls).
- With a Mental Health Care Plan, you can access up to 20 Medicare-subsidised telehealth psychology sessions per calendar year. It is essential that the Mental Health Care Plan is dated prior to your initial telehealth psychology session to access the services.
- Telehealth sessions are also available for self-referred clients and clients referred under a company EAP, VoC or another 3rd party
- Accessing a telehealth session is a simple process. The day before your appointment, you will receive an email or text message with information on the video platform your therapist is using. At the time of your appointment, simply click on the link and join the session with your therapist. If you have booked a phone session, your therapist will call you.
Consultation via Phone Call
For current clients only. If you have booked a phone session, your therapist will call you at the time of your appointment.
Consultation via Video Call
For new and current clients. If you have booked a video call, we will email you information on the online platform your therapist is using.
NB: Not all therapists at Macquarie Psychology are offering video consultations.
Some Telehealth Tips
Your telehealth consultation experience will be best if you:
- ensure that you have a private, quiet, dedicated place for your meeting
- make sure that you have all that you need at your fingertips, for example; notes, books, pad, pen and a drink
- remove distractions; ensure that the TV, radio, or other computer applications are turned off
- have had a few minutes to prepare yourself before the meeting, so that you are relaxed and focused, not rushed with scattered thoughts.
